Course Descriptions
According to the State of California requirements, students new to the profession must take all 3 of the courses listed below:
BASIC (101):
Our basic course is tailored to the beginning student and any person interested in starting this awesome career. This course gives the student an overview of anatomy, physiology and basic infection control, along with basic phlebotomy theory which will prepare the student for advanced phlebotomy techniques. Students must begin with this basic course. 20+ hours total.*
Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED
ADVANCED (102):
Our advanced course is set up to follow the basic theory class and will present an in-depth study of advanced infection control, the cardiovascular system, and pre-analytical errors to avoid. This section will include a lecture on law and ethics pertaining to the profession of phlebotomy, building on the previous lectures in the Basic Course. 20+ hours total.*
Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED, and Basic (101) course.
CLINICAL (103):
Our clinical course is set up to introduce the student to the different equipment used in the field of phlebotomy, including but not limited to "vacu-tainers, butterflies and blood cultures". The student will learn the correct techniques per the current highest standard in the field. Upon successful completion of this section each student will be placed with an instructor in a lab setting to educate him or her in the technical real-world setting. 40 hours plus.*
Prerequisite: High School Diploma or GED, Basic (101) and Advanced (102) courses.
There are additional clinical requirements that you must meet, which may require additional costs if you do not already have them in place: Malpractice insurance - $20, CPR certification - $50, Health Exam, National Exam - $100.

Note: You are required to complete all three courses (Basic, Advanced, and Clinical) in order to be eligible to take the National Exam.
*Although our program is state certified, and the class hours completed lead to certification, as outlined by LFS guidelines; there are no academic credits or units that transfer to other educational institutions.

Classes are held in Menifee (Sun City), California. We will travel to your site within Riverside and San Bernardino Counties, upon request, with a minimum enrollment of 10 students. Please contact us online or call our School Office at 951-672-2446 for more information.

NEW STATE CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS ---CLICK HERE!!!
The state of California, as of April 9, 2003, has implemented certification requirements for those who are currently practice phlebotomy, or wish to do so. All phlebotomists and students must take a California approved phlebotomy course, and upon completion, pass a national exam. If you have had phlebotomy experience in the last 5 years, you may only need our advanced class to be eligible for the certification test and licensing required by the state of California.
Note: Students from other schools are welcome to take our Clinical courses, based on certain eligibility requirements.
